The Mod 1 Test consists of several manoeuvres (Off Road Exercises, see diagram) which are carried out at a DSA test centre.
We offer a 3 hour course in which we simulate the Mod 1 test at one of our secure off-road sites. We will take you through the test step by step, so you will be well prepared.
You may start your practice on a small bike and progress to a larger bike at your leisure. You can have as many 3 hour sessions as you want, until you are ready for your Mod 1 Test.
Your Instructor will take you for an on road ‘warm-up’ session for approx one hour and escort you to the DSA test centre for your pre-arranged Mod 1 Test. When completed, you can move on to your Mod 2 Test - the final part of your full licence.
This fifteen hour course is designed to teach you the safe and correct riding techniques required to pass the DSA's practical motorcycle test, and will help you to be a better rider for life. Usually this course lasts for two full days or five separate three hour lessons to be taken as and when required. On the final day you will be taken out for a warm up lesson and accompanied to the test centre to take your full motorcycle test. This is included in the price and will have been previously arranged by ourselves.
At 17 years of age you can complete your test on a motorcycle of 121-125cc, your full licence will be restricted to a 25kW(33bhp) motorcycle for two years. After this time it will automatically upgrade to a full and unrestricted licence.
If you are 21 years of age or over and wish to ride a larger unrestricted machine, you will need to complete both the Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests on a motorcycle of at least 35kW (Direct Access Scheme usually 500cc plus) and you will be granted a full, unrestricted licence.
Step by step motorbike training toward a full licence
If you're 21 years of age or over you can take your test on a larger machine and avoid the 2 year power restriction.
All our hire equipment and hire bikes are of the highest standard and regularly maintained
